( h) Officials to be notified :
CImmediately upon the granting of a permit for a parade or
motorcade the chief of police shall send a copy thereof to
the following :
( 1) The mayor ,
( 2) The fire chief ,
( 3) The director of the board of public works .
(i ) Revocation of permit:
Any permit for a parade or motorcade issued pursuant to this
chapter may be summarily revoked by a chief of police at any
time when by reason of disaster, public calamity , riot or
other emergency, the chief of police determines that the
safety of the public or property requires such revocation .
Notice of such action revoking a permit shall be delivered
in writing to the permittee by personal service or by certi-
fied mail . (Rev . Ords . 1959, Ch . 33, Sec . 6 ; Ord . of 18-3-
85, Sec . 1 )
Sec. 19-9. Leaving unused wire on street or sidewalk, posts,
etc. restricted.
No person shall permit an unused piece of wire to be left on any
street or sidewalk, nor any unused coil or loose end of wire t,
remain attached to any post , cross-arm or fixture for more tha
twenty-four ( 24 ) hours . (Ord . of 5-16-68 , Sec . 6)
Sec. 19-10. Placing ashes, tacks, glass , etc. in streets or
other public places prohibited.
No person shall put or place , or cause to be put or placed , in
or on any street , lane , alley or other public place in the city ,
any ashes , glass , crockery, scrap iron , nails, tacks or any other
articles which would be liable to injure or damage the tires or,
wheels of bicycles or automobiles or any other vehicles which have
wheels with rubber or pneumatic tires. ( Rev . Ords . 1959, Ch . 47 ,

No person shall place , erect or cause to be placed or erected
within any sidewalk or street any fixture or structure unless a
permit , issued by the board of public works , in the case of the
city ways or by the department of public works of the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts , in the case of state highways , authorizing such
placing or erection , has been granted and is in effect _ Any fix-
tune , structure or property in violation of this section may b�
moved by or under the direction of an officer and at the owner '

THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
The undersigned respectfully petitions your honorable body for permission to block off the
sidewalk at 7 Strong Avenue to install 1 entrance canopy on November 15, 2003 from
7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
In accordance with Code of Ordinance Section 19-11, the applicant agrees to make
arrangements satisfactory to the Northampton Chief of Police to place any and all barricades,
ropes, signs and lights necessary to protect pedestrians, drivers and persons from accident and
harm. The applicant also agrees to hold the City of Northampton and its Departments and
Officers harmless from any and all liability arising from damage or suit brought as a result of
this permit. The applicant hereby further agrees to clean and restore the roadway and sidewalk
to its original or better condition prior to the start of work. A minimum of 4 feet of sidewalk
must be maintained free of obstruction at all times for pedestrians to pass. Provisions for clean-
up must be approved prior to issuance of permit. This permit shall be available at the requested
location for inspection during the time period exercised to any enforcin fficer o he City.
