Dear Donald,
I visited the property at 122 Hawley Street on September 5, 2008. 1 observed work on that
property being performed contrary to the provisions of the Massachusetts State Building Code, 780
CMR; the cleanup after the fire has progressed to work that requires a building permit. In accordance
with 780 CM Chapter 1, section 119, 1 have issued and posted a stop work order effective today.
Work on this property cannot resume until we issue a building permit for that property. The permit fee
will be doubled, and there will be an additional $50.00 fee to remove the stop work order in accordance
with the City of Northampton ordinances Chapter 174, section 5.
You have the right to appeal this action under 780 CMR Chapter 1, section 122. 1 have included
the relevant code sections and forms.
