DONOHUE October 21, 1996 Liquor License Board City of Northampton 210 Main Street Northampton,Massachusetts 01060 Re: 196 Pleasant Street Norhampton Dear Commissioners: As you know I represent the holders of a Liquor License for 196 Pleasant Street,Norhampton. As was discussed in prior actions against Mr. Lavelle and Mr. Hebert,a deadline was established for them to have a Certificate of Occupancy issued for the above referenced location. There have been complications that force my clients to request a Fifteen(15)day extension of that deadline. In short there were serious problems with the water service coming into the building that had to be addressed in order to complete the build out of the location. My clients had made provisions for the water situation but due to a number of circumstances have been unable to complete the water service problem to date. The contractor on this portion of the project has been Owens Construction who has had difficulty in coordinating, the water main shut off with the other area businesses and scheduling the project In dry weather both conditions must be met for the work on the water service to continue. The first week scheduled for this work was the week of 10/1 •- 10/8 none of these dates were acceptable to the Depot Restaurant due to events that were already scheduled for them, next an attempt was made to do the necessary repairs on 10/10 but the work was postponed due to rain,it was rescheduled for 10/13 on which date the water service for the entire area was shut down but the proper conversion could not be made due to an error in the information provided to Owens Construction from the City of Northampton Water Department,if the water service could have bm completed on any one of these dates the built out could have been completed on schedule. 71w new date set and noticed to all businesses affected is 10/28, we expect completion of the water service on that date and will then need additionnal time to complete the portions of the build-out that could not be completed due to 11w change in the water system. We have made fantastic progress towards to completion of the project and invite any of the members of the committee to inspect the premises especially if it will help ease in the decision making process for the extension requested.
