PAGE 1 OF 3 field memo DISCUSSION ITEMS RC Stevens convened a meeting to discuss placement of the concrete floor slabs. John Turner Consulting was not represented at this meeting. The following items were discussed: - Due to the aggressive construction schedule, the concrete floor slabs will be placed before the erection of structural steel and installation of the roof deck. As such, 4” of well graded granular material will not be placed above the vapor retarder. RC Stevens is to obtain an equitable credit for this reduction in work scope. - John Turner Consulting and RC Stevens will inspect the vapor retarder for damage and patch any perforations in the membrane prior to the placement of concrete. - The thickness of resinous flooring is to be taken into account when establishing the top of the concrete floor slabs. The specified concrete thickness is to be maintained over the entire slab including at all drain locations. - John Turner Consulting is to review the concrete mix designs and compare batch tickets with the approved mix design. - Waterstops within the trench drains are to be installed as indicated. - Test cylinders taken by John Turner Consulting are to be stored in accordance with recognized industry standards. GENERAL ITEMS - 4x4x1/4" steel angel and 5/8” rod is to be used for trapeze hanger details shown on Drawing P4.3. - On the south side of Full Goods Storage (113) there is a 2" FM-S that is to be held tight to the bottom of the roof joists. MJ Moran would like to route this pipe within the bar joists in the aisle one rack bay to the north. This is acceptable to Hixson but must be approved by Jerry Goodsell before proceeding. RC Stevens must document on as-built drawings. AREA C - Excavation for footings is in progress. - Conductors in existing conduit below the slab have been removed and re-circuited. AREA E - Installation of the footings and foundations is nearly complete. - Installation of the underground plumbing drainage and storm drainage continues. There is also spalling of the concrete surface in several locations. - Mortar bed joints at the base course of the CMU walls have not been pointed. - There is soil erosion at the northwest of the concrete paving adjacent to the Detention Basin. - The joints in the concrete paving have not yet been sealed. - There is a conduit penetration through the CMU that has not patched. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEGIN CHECKING HERE FOR PENDING ITEMS FROM 9/21/10 RECEIVING DOCK 190 - The concrete pavement is cracked in a section east of Dock Door 190h near the radius. This section of pavement should be replaced. - Sealant for the pavement joints will take place once the concrete has had time to cure for a period of 30 days. - The concrete face of the Dock Door pits has not yet been rubbed. AREA E - Placement of footings and foundations continue. In the Blend Corridor (137a) there are form ties and “fins” that have not yet been removed. There is also some slight “honeycombing” and “bug holes” that have not yet been filled. - In the Shipping Office area, most of the footings are to be placed at an elevation of 92’-6”. In the southwest corner of this area, the footing is indicated to be placed at an elevation of 94’-0”. The subcontractor requested authorization to lower this footing elevation to the 92'-6". This is acceptable provided the relocation of the existing 10” water pipe feed to the fire protection system has been completed and the abandoned pipe removed. No additional costs should be associated with this modification request. This condition should also be noted on the field as-built drawings.
