Report by: Brad Hutchison Project Manager/Architect Kuhn Riddle Architects TO Charles Miller DATE : 03/05/13 PROJECT: GATEHOUSE cc: Jonathan Wright (WBI) PROJECT NO. 10065 Dan Dodge (Opal Development) SUBJECT: FIELD REPORT FIELD REPORT #5 ! RYAN S. HELLWIG, PE ! STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ! FIELD REPORT March 15, 2013 Charles Roberts Kuhn Riddle Architects 28 Amity Street, Suite 2B Amherst, MA 01002 Re:The Gatehouse / Lot 18 Village Hill Road Northampton, Mass. Site Visit:3-14-13 Conditions:Partly sunny & low 30's Present:Brad Hutchison (Kuhn Riddle Architects) John Averill (Wright Builders - GC) Matt Wilcox (Wilcox Builders - Framer) Windows are installed, and the building is closed in. The primary purpose of this visit was to observe the roof trusses prior to starting sheetrock and insulation. All truss holdowns have been installed. Gable end wall bracing is complete. Bracing of individual truss members was virtually complete, with the following exceptions noted: Some of the lateral braces for T1G, located at the sides of the elevator, cannot be installed until the fire-code gypsum board is complete; Some of the lateral braces for T1D could not be installed since the members requiring bracing are in a different pattern from the adjacent trusses - these members should be braced not with laterals, but with strongbacks, per the truss manufacturer’s details; Screws for mating the two plies of the G1 girder trusses have not been installed - the screws are required per the truss manufacturer, with the patterns called out in the truss design notes.
