she said that the site plan would be forthcoming if the special permit
is granted.
Mrs. ,halter Adamski, an abutter, asked if future expansion is planned,
and was informed that the size of the house would limit expansion. ,
An eighty by ten foot driveway is available for parking and there is
ample unpaved space on the property which can also be used if necessary.
At this point, Mr. Brushway moved to take the vote on the matter;
Mr. Gervais seconded the motion; and the Chairman voted in favor.
The vote to grant the special permit with the stipulation that a
site plan be submitted was unanimous.

IN RE: Petition of Applied Imagination of Montgomery, Inc. for Special
Permit
This is the decision of the Board of Appeals of the City of Northampton
on a petition filed by Applied Imagination of Montgomery, Inc.
requesting a special permit under the provisions of Chapter 44, Article V,
paragraph 5-10, line 15 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of
Northampton for the purpose of conducting a jewelery-snaking business.
The premises affected are located on the East side of Conz Street,
designated as Parcel 130, Sheet No. 32C of the Assessors' Plan of the
City of Northampton and are known as 74 Conz Street.
The :public notice on the matter had been published in the Daily
Hampshire Gazette on May '5 and May 12, 19`76. A memorandum from the
Planning Department had been filed stating that the staff had no
objections to the proposal but suggested that more detailed plans be
submitted.
The Board of Appeals hearing Iwas held at 8:30 P.m. in the City Council
Chambers, City Hall, May 19, 1976. The Chairman, Charles W. Dragon
presided and other members present were Thomas Brush,,;ay, and Associate
member Eric Gervais. Also present were Daniel Woodward, Bonnie Moss,
Bevlyn Gallant, Clare Fennessey, Clerk, Mrs. Walter Adamski, and two
interested citizens.
Bonnie Moss, Vice President of Applied Imagination of 'Montgomery, Inc. ,
spoke. She said that the company .)fans to purchase a single-family
home at 74 Conz Street for the wholesale manufacture of jewelry.
Approximately 15 percent of the floor space will be devoted to
manufacture; 85 percent for storage and office space. No heavy
machinery is to be used; most of the •,,7ork is done by hand. No smoke
or noise will result from the operation. There .";ill be no retail
sales, therefore, no customers arriving and leaving the premises.
The business will be inconspicuous, with only a change in the outward
appearance of the home being the placement of a small sign. There
will be no imgact on the environment, and no increase in sewer use.
Small amounts of raw materials will be delivered daily by a parcel
delivery truck. The normal work day will be from 9: 00 AM to 5 :30 PTA,
but the possibility cxi:_-ts that F,(,-:Tie office 7,.-ork would be done in the
evening hours.

On June 22, 1977, the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of
Northampton decided to grant the petition of Richard Kataoka for a
special permit to construct an addition to a dwelling at 7 4 Conz Street.
Based upon evidence presented to the Board, the Board made the
following findings:
1. The use requested is listed in the Table of Use Regulations
as a special permit in the district for which application is made or
is so designated elsewhere in this Ordinance. See Section 10.9 (3 ) (G) .
2. The requested use bears a positive relationship to the public
convenience or welfare.
3 . The requested use will not create undue traffic congestion,
or unduly impair pedestrian safety.
4. The requested use will not overload any'public water, drainage,
or sewer system or any other municiapl system to such an extent that
the requested use or any developed use in the immediate area or in any
other area of the City will be unduly subjected to hazards affecting
health, safety, or the general welfare.
5. Any special regulations for the use, set forth in Article XI,
are fulfilled.
6. The requested use will not unduly impair the integrity or
character of the district or adjoining zones, nor be detrimental to
the health, morals, or welfare.
The following conditions shall apply to this special permit:
That construction of the addition be in accordance with the plan
submitted to the Zoning Board.
