I am sorry that my first application was not clear enough. The house at 42 Fruit St. had an existing set of entry stairs that extended about 4'3" towards the sidewalk from the face of the porch. I enclose a photo showing the previous condition. We have the set of stairs still on the site because we plan to use them for temporary stairs during the construction. I do not know exactly where the lot line is in the front of the house. It is probably very close to the edge of the sidewalk closest to the house. The new stairs that we hope to have permission to build will project about 18" towards the street from the front of the porch. This represents a substantial reduction of the non-conformity on the front lot line. The plan view of the porch now includes the location of the previous stairs.
