John mentioned that Tony (Building Commissioner) may be issuing the building permit today and may be delivering it to my office. John also mentioned the need for clarification on the hydronic pipe hangers as they relate to the 2 hour rated ceiling and the 6 x 18 penetration in the exterior wall for the HVAC unit supplying the cell area. also discussed was the excess demo work of the area. I asked John to allow me 24 hours to decide if the corrective work will be done in-house or as a change order. He agreed. Demolition of the sheet rock around the column in the cell area was discussed. Inc.. Mr. John Ferriter, has been aggressively pursuing the work in order to meet the projected completion date for partial occupancy of the building. Demolition work was performed by city employees prior to commencement of work by the General Contractor. Shop drawings have been processed for long lead items. The thickness of a masonry partition in the stair hall. which could not be constructed as detailed due to dimensional problems between the existing stairs was changed from 8" to 6"; concrete block, the client had required that a partition be installed between the stairs for security purposes. It is a non-load bearing masonry wall anchored to the stringers and landings and at second floor ceiling structure. An existing partition at the second floor (which was shown to be removed to provide a new corridor) was found to be constructed of concrete masonry units and has been allowed to remain since it contained a roof drain chase which would result in a sizable extra to relocate. No drawings of existing conditions were available to us at the time we were preparing the renovation plans. The work is proceeding in an orderly manner and to the best of my knowledge complies with the contract drawings for which you issued a building permit.
