We can probably give your guy a theoretical estimate that you would average throughout the day. Not sure if this will be sufficient for your inspector. The best thing will be for them to test the - system..once it is operational to determine the real#. But for example; _ Lets say you are averaging 1500 lbslhr(Using 15ibslft"3 for typ.Wood dust)which would be filling a dust riper cubic ft of would 0.0025 ibs1R"3 z 17.5 grainns/ft"3.u`The 500 lbemr is about max for the CS filter. This is a pretty basic calculation but it's going to be about as good as we can do without actually testing the air. Please call with any questions. Our electrical inspector, George Fournier, has concerns about the wiring methods in the production areas of that building. The electrical code (NFPA 70), article 500, section 500.5 requires that locations be classified depending on the properties of the...combustible dusts...that may be present and the likelihood that a...combustible concentration or quantity may be present. It appears that the production area could be classified as a Class II, Division 2 area based on section 500.5 (C) (2) (3). Dust accumulation on, in or in the vicinity of electrical equipment seems a distinct possibility. NFPA 499, Recommended Practice for the Classification of Combustible Dusts, gives guidance on whether the area in question must be considered a classified area. The factors that determine whether an area needs to be classified include (but are not limited to) the combustible materials involved, particle size of the materials, dust removal systems, housekeeping and existing facility history. Please submit an assessment of the production area based on the criteria detailed in NFPA 499, and specify the protection techniques required (if any). Feel free to call if you have any questions. Our telephone number is 587-1240 and our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, excepting that we close at 12:00 noon on Wednesdays.
