Dear Sirs:
The building department has received a complaint about open framing and scaffolding.
I reviewed the permit then visited the property. I found the permit was taken in 2008 and is
beyond its life, the work being completed appears to be beyond the scope of the roofing permitted.
The Massachusetts State Building Code, 780 CMR section 5111.8 requires that work proceed in
good faith continuously to the completion in so far as reasonably practical.
At this time you are required to obtain a new permit covering the full extent of the work, have the
new framing inspected, and then complete the work in a continuous fashion.
Please contact me at the building department as soon as possible so we can discuss this
matter. This work requires a building permit. Our telephone number is 587-1240 and our office hours
are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, excepting that we close at 12:00 noon on
