The building permit issued in September, 2009 has been cicged. The Northampton Fire Department allowed the contractor to disconnect the sprinklers on that floor during construction, anticipating that the project would proceed quickly to completion. As that project has been abandoned, having inspected the space with Assistant Chief Duane Nichols and Captain Larry Therrien and after discussing the existing conditions, I order that adequate sprinkler coverage be restored to the third floor. Additionally, smoke detectors connected to the building alarm system must be installed on that floor and the tamper switches on the sprinkler system valves-must be- monitored -by -being -eon- nected -to- the - fire- alarm - control- panel. This work must be completed within 30 days to allow continued occupancy of the building. This letter shall serve as notice in accordance with the Massachusetts State Building Code 780 CMR chapter 1, section 118.2. Feel free to call if you have any questions.
