When I was there I saw the gas log set and checked the damper, it doesn't meet code. There is no permit for that being installed, so Larry is going to want a plumber /gas fitter to take a permit and get an inspection. The damper must be removed or permanently affixed open. 2. I forgot to look while I was there, but there was a list of items which where to be accomplished before the building department would give final COs. 1. Exit signs. 2. Emergency lights 3. Rated ceiling in the mechanical room 4. Walk through of the common areas to assure all items have been addressed. In casual conversations on site it has been discussed that a one-hour separation of this roam from the dwelling units is needed. *owever, aozz states that a one hour separation would be required, but Exception 1 waives that requirement if the "furnace and boiler equipment [is) of low-pressue type, operating at pressures of 15 psig or less for steam eqLnpment or 170 psig or less for hot water equipment, wm,n|rs\p|/ru in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.' There is one hot water boiler in the space. a Viessmann Vicodens 200 hot water unit that operates at 45 psi, In addition there is a hot water heat exchange-type 80 gallon hot water heater (5uperSmr 80) that is powered with hat water generated by the Viessmanrt unit. The BTU output of the boiler is 170.000 Btu. Based on this. the one-hour separation is not required For what it's worth, if this were new construction. a one-hour separation still would not have been required (Table 508.2.5) because the equipment is under the minimum size/capacity that would require such a separation.
