DESIGN CRITERIA (per MA Building Code 7 Ed.)
Ground Snow Load = 55 psf
Snow Load Importance Factor I = Temperature Factor C, = Exposure Factor C 1.0
Flat Roof Snow Load: 38.5 psf
Tributary Width for Wall Loads = half of 18 ft to interior beam line = 9' - 0"
Wall Height = 12' - 6"
Level 1 Work per §3408.4.2 & §3408.4.3
All concrete masonry units shall be 8" nominal width, normal - weight, two -cell, load - bearing type conforming
to ASTM C90, Grade N, Type I, placed in running bond pattern.
The ultimate compressive masonry strength f shall be 1500 psi, minimum. Strength may be determined by
the Prism Test Method or by the Unit Strength Method.
Masonry mortar shall be type S, conforming to ASTM C270, Type I or II.
All cores with vertical reinforcing shall be fully grouted. Grout shall conform to ASTM C476.
Reinforcing steel bars shall conform to ASTM A615, Grade 60, new billet steel, with lap splices 48 bar
diameters, 24" minimum.
Wire joint reinforcement shall conform to ASTM A82, with hot -dip galvanizing conforming to ASTM A153.
REINFORCING SCHEDULE
1. Two #4 horizontal in grouted bond beam in grouted bond beam at bottom, middle & top of wall;
2. Two W1.7 galvanized wires in horizontal bed joints at 16 inches on center;
3. One #5 vertical in grouted cores at wall ends & @ 48" on center, maximum;
4. Provide #5 dowels in foundation walls to match CMU.
5. Provide ' /z" dia anchor bolts @ 48" o/c in top course for wood plate.

Repairs to the ARC garage including:
- install temporary walls to support damaged exterior wall
- demo and remove the damaged masonry and wood framed exterior wall
- repair sheathing and vinyl siding on the adjacent wall at the corner
- rebuild masonry wall section with rebar per the structural engineer
- rebuild wood framed interior and exterior walls in their original configuration
- supply and install fiberglass insulation in new exterior walls
- supply and install new vinyl siding similar to existing
- supply and install drywall at new interior walls
