The following is a summation of our observations There are a total of 32 solar panels proposed for the southern facing section of roof. These panels havc a footprint ufO3.1~x41.8° and weigh 441 pounds each. This translates into a unit weight of 2 psf per paniel. The support rails have a minimal unit weight (0.5 psn The roof structure consists of exterior sheathing over 2x10 rafters at 16" on center spanning approximately 16 feet (horizontal dimension). The 8 Edition of the Massachusetts State Building Code (Residential) states that Florence (Northampton) is in a 40 psf ground snow load. Assuming the rafters have the properties of Spruce-Pine-Fir 2 thcy car safely support a design load of 43 psf in addrtion to a 10 psf dead load which is equal to the actual load of approximately 43pnf(4U~3) that it will be subjected lo. Based on the field observations and the information noted above it is my professional opinion that thepxisVny roof is structurally sound and able to support the additional weight of the solar panels If you have any qwnnxo'`x concerning this letter or if I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. 4 rely, i a , 4 y moteld 44 --n_ .- ,'' —"- .E.
