32C-029 (7) Based on what 1 have observed at the site since the onset of work, and to the best of my knowledge, all work to date conforms to the requirements set out on my Drawings A -1 and SD -1, both dated 23 January 2012. In addition, I deem the completed work to be in conformity with requirements of the Massachusetts Building Code (780 CMR — Eighth Edition), and of the Architectural Access Board regulations (521 CMR). Consequently, in my opinion, the alterations to the Northampton Brewery's Men's and Women's Public Rest Rooms are now safe and ready for use by the general public, despite the interior finish work remaining (as detailed here earlier). I therefore see no impediment to your granting a temporary Certificate of Occupancy for this project. Please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns about this information, or if you need any further information from me at this time. Thank you. - -_: ED ARCA,, Kin egards, ( MERRE ) ,Ir. a n BELHUMEUR I t # 3468 p 4, Greenfield, MA P erre A. C IA es5 Copy: Janet Egelston, Proprietress /rt Pierre J. As you may be aware, Brewery personnel are eager to have this work completed to the point where they can reopen for business this evening at 5:00 PM. I am hopeful that the following information about progress to date will be sufficient to allow your issuance of a temporary Certificate of Occupancy for work completed to date. Since project onset, both toilet room concrete floor slabs have been replaced, along with all of the subgrade sanitary and floor drain plumbing. The new mesh - reinforced concrete floor has been tinted and sealed. The new and relocated existing plumbing fixtures are all in their locations shown on my Drawing A -1 dated 23 January 2012. Also, the new lavatory counters and fixtures are mounted on their respective walls. Prior to my 12 :30 PM visit, the plumbing work here had reportedly passed the required inspection. New toilet partition installation was underway at the time of my site visit: a process due for completion shortly thereafter by early afternoon. Those prebuilt and prefinished toilet partitions will have lever handle latches for the doors, with spring hinges to assist their closing. Among the pieces of work remaining and that will not be completed prior to this evening are new wall finishes and replacement ceilings. For the moment, the existing ceilings remain unchanged and continue in service, and the new wainscot locations have been roughed and have their impervious tile backer material in place. These are scheduled to be covered with sealed slate. Work on all of these surfaces will be ongoing until the project reaches 100% completion, at which point you will receive another update from stating that milestone has been reached.. The two toilet room entrance doors are scheduled to receive electrically operated door openers activated via wall paddles in each of the rooms. Space is so tight in each of these rooms that, without those door activators, wheelchair -bound patrons would find it near impossible to exit those rooms without another person's assistance. Those closers are not yet in place due to an approximate two -week lead time on delivery, and they were ordered last week.
