Re: Island Road Parking
Following the incident that occurred several weeks ago involving the Ladder
Truck and a vehicle that was parked on the street Fire Chief Brian Duggan, Building
Commissioner Anthony Patillo, and myself performed a tour of Island Rd. During this
tour we identified several areas of concern that we feel should be posted no parking
areas. First we feel that there should be no parking on the south side of the street.
Parking should be restricted on the north side of the street were the following criteria
are met: Width of the road is narrow, Telephone poles obstruct traffic flow, hedges
are in close proximity to the street, and fire hydrants present. No parking should be
allowed within ten feet on either side in relation to these obstructions on the north
side of the street as well.
All areas that we feel should be no parking are highlighted in red on the
attached map. The measurements are based off the fire hydrant located in parcel 53-
005 labeled with an encircled red H.
