We are wri ng in support of the special permit for construc on at 198 Nonotuck Street, ID 23A-290. We
are neighbors at 201 Nonotuck Street, with a full of view of the planned construc on.
Our support for this project is based on the following:
1. The residen al building is already non-conforming and the planned addi on is aesthe cally cohesive
with the exis ng structure. We have viewed the construc on plans and find them tasteful, modest,
and an enhancement to the neighborhood. The proposed construc on has no nega ve impacts to the
neighborhood.
2. The 2-foot setback is incorrect. A deck is already in place at the proposed building site and the
addi on is nominally larger than the current deck. There is significantly more space from the
proposed addi on to the exis ng fence line than indicated by the city.
3. We love our neighbors and want them to stay! With current limited housing op ons and prohibi ve
housing costs in the Northampton area, the city is at risk of losing families without allowances such as
the requested permit. This home belongs to a young family who wants to remain in the area and has
outgrown their 2-bedroom home. Without a variance, they will be unlikely to stay in the city of
Northampton.
Thank you for considering our comments.
Sincerely,
Julia and Matthew Ronconi
