2003.04.01 Letter to Hampton Gardens

Dear Gerard and Sally;
This letter is to address two issues that have come up recently in discussions with Sally and some local service providers. The issues involve marketability for the Trust fund units
and utilization of the very low income units. Hopefully we can take steps to address both topics.
At Sally’s request I contacted Don Teres, the Director of Human Resources for the City of Northampton. Evidently, there is a policy prohibiting direct solicitation of City employees
by private organizations. Through further discussion, it was agreed however, that brochures could be placed in public locations in proximity of all the various City departments, which
would accomplish dissemination of the information about the complex. I have enclosed a copy of all the departments and the numbers associated, so you can produce a flier geared towards
City employees. If you deliver the brochures to me, I will see that they get distributed to the correct locations.
Having heard from 2 housing search workers in the community that their
clients have been unable to access housing at the complex, it became
clear that the Trustees, as well as myself would benefit by an accounting
of how many units in each level you have filled. I am asking that you
provide me with a statement indicating the status of the units
required in each level, according to the signed agreement. Supplying the
City with this information has been discussed and agreed to in the past.
It is necessary to have this information in order to further research the
claims expressed by the service providers. Once I have that information,
we can proceed with the particulars of the assertions being made.
If you could provide that statement to me at your earliest convenience, it would be appreciated. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I can be reached at 587-1288 if you have
any questions about the request.
Respectfully,
Peg Keller
