Note: A bike sharing project would attract new riders from different modes. Actual surveys can determine the extent of the transition
from different modes to such program. If site specific data is unavailable, use the defaults provided below.

ValleyBike share (phase II)
NORTHAMPTON, AMHERST, CHICOPPE, EASTHAMPTON, HADLEY, HOLYOKE, SOUTH HADLEY, SPRINGFIELD,
and WEST SPRINGFIELD: ValleyBike share (phase II)
ValleyBike share had 44 stations in 2018, funded with CMAQ funds, that provided over 85,000 miles of bicycle
riding in five communities in just five months. By spring 2019, the system (using CMAQ and other funds) will
be up to 55 stations with an estimated 110,000 miles of use per year, much of it diverted from vehicle miles
traveled. We are requesting funds to expand the system to add 22 stations and four new communities,
increasing projected miles riden to 150,000 miles per year.
The project will use the existing specifications from the 2017 bid process, in essence a book job, allowing the
project to go to bid as soon as a contract for additional funding is signed.
