RE: Proposed Project Sequencing & Erosion Control Plan
Proposed Demolition of Existing Structures & Lot Clearing
39 Landy Avenue
Northampton, Massachusetts 01062
(Parcel ID: 23C-001-001)
RLA Project File No. 210117
R Levesque Associates, Inc. (RLA) is herein submitting a detailed project sequencing and erosion control
plan for the proposed demolition of an existing structure and vegetation clearing at the above referenced
site. Please note that the action items have been listed in chronological order in an effort to make sure
the Conservation Commission and site contractor understand how to best minimize disturbances for the
project while maximizing logistics.
1. The project involves demolition of the existing house, which is anticipated to occur during late
winter/early spring of 2022, ideally when the ground is frozen. Demolition debris will be placed
directly into a dumpster or dump truck and discarded properly off-site. No earth disturbance is
anticipated for this particular activity of the project.
2. The limit of work, as approved on the permitting plan, shall be marked in the field with wooden
stakes set by means of survey by the design/survey professional.
3. To occur simultaneous with the house demolition, or soon after is the cutting and removal of the
existing trees on the property within the limit of work. Ideally this will be conducted during frozen
ground conditions which will protect the soil from scarification from the felling of trees and the
heavy machinery needed to remove the cut trees off-site. At no time shall trees be felled onto
neighboring properties or the wetland resource area. Silt fence/erosion controls may be difficult
to install should frozen ground conditions be present, therefore no tree stumps shall be
ground/removed until erosion controls are installed as shown on the plan.
4. Pertaining to condition #12 of the Determination from the Conservation Commission, prior to the
grinding of the stumps, the applicant shall install silt fence as detailed on the accompanying plan
along the westerly (rear) limit of work, proximate to the off-site wetlands. Erosion control log shall
be staked, as detailed, along the remaining limit of work line.
5. Once the erosion controls are installed and the ground is thawed, using typical stump grinding
machinery, the cut tree stumps will be grinded flush with grade. The wood mulch is encouraged
to be left in place over the disturbed stump area to act as a soil cover. Any other disturbed areas
resulting in exposed soil shall be seeded with grass or winter rye seed as soon as possible.
