RE: Mineral Hills Conservation Area
Dear Mr. Zawalick: ~-_ n ~ed/1i/(
It has come to the attention of the Conservation Commission that you have been tappin~ eral 'fi Q
of the sugar maple trees located on the Mineral Hills Conservation Area on Sylvester Ro . The
Conservation Commission is an active steward of the properties under its ownership, and
activities that go beyond those described in Rules and Regulations for Conservation Areas
require permission of the Commission.
The Commission understands that maple sugaring is a long-standing tradition in
Massachusetts, promotes local agriculture and local businesses, and can also be an important
component of responsible forest stewardship.
Please sign below and return to the Office of Planning and Development to confirm that all
tapping that occurs at Mineral Hills follows proper industry standards, and uses bucket
collections only. The signed form will serve as your written permission to continue tapping.
Thanks very much, I hope the 2011 sugaring season will be a good one. Please feel free to call
with any questions or concerns.
