On • uary 14th, 2021 we visited the address indicated above to observe the existing roof framing. This roof structu e is a gable with valleys at the north side. The pitch appears to be 5 or 6/12. The roofing materials is asphalt shin le. The southeast roof structure consists of conventional SPF #1/#2 2x10 rafters at 16 inches on center. The afters receiving the proposed new photovoltaic panels are two-span continuous with two eleven foot spans. a center support consists of a 2x6 bearing wall to a flush beam below. Rafter lateral bracing is provided by roof sheathing, drywall, and rafter blocking. The xisting roof dead loads are roughly 15 psf. 2015 International Residential Code and the 9th Edition Massachuse is State Amendments specify a minimum ground snow load of 40 psf and a minimum flat roof snow load o 35 psf. Ass ming worst case snow loading of drift loading at that side, a cold roof condition and a site exposure "B" and pa sally sheltered as defined by ASCE-7. The roof applied snow load I have considered is 40 psf. The photo voltai array will add 4-5 psf of dead load. Giv the existing structural conditions and code required loading described above. The two-span 2x 10 rafters that r the southeast roof structure at the address above have the required capacity for code prescribed loads and th additional loading of a photo voltaic array. B I Greenfield, MA 01301 •+q, so' MA Elec. Lic.A13764 I MA HIC 140077 Dear Town Inspections Officials, Please see our enclosed applications to permit a Solar Photovoltaic System in your jurisdiction. As you are likely aware, PV Squared is a worker-owned-cooperative B-Corp, employing 40+ people in Greenfield. We have installed thousands of PV Systems out of our Greenfield, MA Headquarters since 2002. PV Squared is committed to complying with all Commonwealth laws and regulations. Our worksite guidelines are created with the intention of exceeding all safety, electrical, and building requirements as defined by their respective jurisdictional entities. This includes the work of people from multiple disciplines, including electrical engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, electricians, construction supervisors, roofers, and their associated helpers. We are a company that values training and education. We make certain that every individual is qualified for the roles and responsibilities that they assume. It is our policy to pay for the employees travel and training time and cost of the education, including CSL and Journeyman and Master Electrician classes. As an electrical contractor we are furthermore guided by the January 30, 2009 Massachusetts Board of State Examiners of Electricians (BSEE)judgements, and rulings that have followed. We pay strict adherence to these mandates and all electrical work is conducted by an electrician and an electrician's apprentice in a 1:1 ratio. We also understand that non-electrical tasks associated with a Solar installation can be completed by non-electrical workers, such as CSLs and others. I have attached our installation policy for your review, as well as a list of example non-electrical tasks. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy or delineation of work, please let us know. We are a learning organization that is always trying to improve on what we do.
