NOTICE TO: Banks, Real Estate and Insurance Agents
SUBJECT: Flood Insurance Rate Map and Flood Protection Information
DATE: April 14, 2020
As a public service, the City of Northampton can provide:
1. At determination on whether a property is in the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) shown
on the current Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) of the City.
2. Additional flood insurance data for a site, such as the FIRM zone and the Base Flood
Elevation (BFE) or depth, if shown on the FIRM.
3. Information on mandatory flood insurance purchase requirement that apply to those
getting a federally‐backed mortgage or loan for a property in Special Flood Hazard Areas.
4. Information on historical flooding and information in our records.
5. Available information on whether the property is located near a sensitive or wetland area.
If you would like to make an inquiry, please tell us the street address and/or the map and
parcel number.
In usual times, we are open 8:45 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Call us at 587‐1266 or drop
by Planning & Sustainability in City Hall, 210 Main Street, Northampton, MA 01060. During the
