Project Description
Summary Overview:
The City of Northampton (“the City”) requests $250,000 in Housing Choice Grant (HCG) funds
to for the infrastructure necessary to develop 25 affordable housing units at two City sites at the
former Northampton State Hospital:
23 Laurel Street (22 family rental units planned on 1.62 acre parcel)
278 Burts Pit Road (3 homeownership units planned on 1.72 acre parcel)
HCG funds will ready both sites for construction of new affordable housing by completing:
Design and Engineering: water, sewer, stormwater and sidewalk design, survey, legal,
hydrant flow, soil tests, geotechnical, Phase I Environmental Site Assessment update,
wetlands documentation, and arborist assessment.
Construction and demolition: house removal, water, sewer, stormwater, sidewalk, curbs, site
clearance, and construction administration.
