“Sustainability has been defined as meeting the needs of the
present without compromising the ability of the future generations
to meet their own needs.” -Former Norwegian Prime Minister Gro
Harlem Brundtland.
In 2008, the city of Northampton adopted a plan called
Sustainable Northampton. The city is now discussing changes to
rules and regulations that would start to move the city in this
direction, making it easier for people to live and work in existing
neighborhoods like Bay State Village.
The Visioning Committee was formed to find out what people who
live here want our neighborhood to be like in the future.
