40R affordability, 40 unit TCB project

Upon the recommendation of Mayor Mary Clare Higgins and the Planning Board
BE IT RESOLVED
WHEREAS, The Community Builders Inc, working through its Hospital Hill Development LLC, is developing affordable housing at the Village at Hospital Hill; and
WHEREAS, The housing is being developed under Northampton’s Smart Growth Zoning, as authorized by MGL Chapter 40R, which requires that the City hold or co-hold affordability restrictions
on these units to ensure that Northampton wage earners can afford to live in a Northampton with a wide diversity of housing types and prices; and
WHEREAS, The City expects that more Smart Growth Zoning affordable units will be created in the future;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to accept affordability restrictions from Hospital Hill Development LLC and other entities on any housing created under the Northampton Smart
Growth Zoning.
