Hampshire Co. Transport TransectBikeway Facilities: Sidepath A sidepath is a bidirectional shared use path located immediately adjacent and parallel to a roadway. Sidepaths can offer a high quality experience for bicyclists as compared to on-roadway facilities in heavy traffic environments, allow for reduced roadway crossing distances, and maintain community character. Pedestrian Facilities: Street Trees Street trees create a visually-pleasing “wall” to separate the sidewalk from adjacent roadway. These trees improve the aesthetics of the streetscape, provide a buffer between the roadway and sidewalk to improve pedestrian comfort, and may facilitate storm water management through bioretention features such as planters and swales. Complete Streets: for everyone
