Joint Conservation and Agriculture Commission project
The APR program allows the city to purchase Agriculture Preservation Restrictions
The APR program has been extremely effective at helping us obtain Agricultural Preservation Restrictions, preserving important farmland, and leveraging matching funds.
2014: Russell APR, 8.6 acres of prime farmland (CPA $3,400 and leveraging $13,600 in state funds).
2015: Baye APR, 7.0 acres of prime farmland (CPA $9,075).
2016: Clark APR on 1 acre of prime farmland (CPA investment $1,075, check cut in 2015).
Current Status
We are in negotiation on several possible APRs, including the large Vollinger parcel on North Farms Road.
We would like to request that the MOA be extended by two years to allow these projects to come to fruition. We find that farmland parcels tend to have a longer lead time than traditional
purchasing land in fee.
