2. a. Work Description (use additional paper and/or provide plan(s) of work, if necessary):
The DPW proposes to add the paving of the Fitzgerald Lake Parking Lot to the North Farms Road and North Maple Street Paving Project. The project has been awarded to Palmer Paving Corp. and
work will be completed by 11/20/2020. The lot is 20+ years old, has a sizable gap between granite curbing and the lot base, and has little gravel base remaining, resulting in potholes and scraped material around the lots edges. The parking lot is approximately. 2,600 sf in area. The work will include removal of unsuitable base material, installation of up to 8" depth of processed gravel, and a
hot mix asphalt surface of 4" depth. The existing 100 linear feet of granite curbing along the road will be removed and reset as necessary. Straw wattles will be installed around the perimeter of the lot.
The parking lot is within the riverfront area to Broad Brook, and within buffer zone to bank and bordering vegetated wetland. Due to the limited nature of work, wetland boundary delineation was not conducted. All work will be confined to existing gravel areas. An existing berm at the southeastern edge of the parking area, between the lot and Broad Brook, will serve as an additional
measure to prevent any mobilized gravel from traveling into the stream or wetlands. The grade of the lot away from the wetland, and an additional berm, will prevent erosion on the northern segment.
