Dear Dr. Loveless and the CFPCGP Review Committee:
I enthusiastically support the Collaborative for Educational Services’ Community Food Projects’
application. This project will fund a county mobile market implementation plan, a county‐level
food policy council, and help us address barriers to community food security
The Northampton Office of Planning & Sustainability supports the efforts of the Collaborative
for Educational Services to pursue food access priorities established by food insecure residents
and local experts while creating further opportunities for marginalized communities to hone
their leadership skills through engagement with countywide food justice work.
Planning & Sustainability’s mission is to identify and implement the community vision with a
healthy and equitable economy and environment. Healthy Hampshire supports our effortsto
advance equity and participatory visioning, strengthening our reach into low‐income
communities, environmental justice populations, and residents with disabilities to advance food
justice and access to physical activity. Healthy Hampshire has been a key contributor to our
Walk/Bike Northampton plan, the Hampshire County Food Access Assessment, our Climate
Resiliency and Regeneration Plan, and our regional collaborations.
My office will continue to work with Healthy Hampshire to support these efforts. If this grant is
funded, we estimate that we will be contributing $5,000 of staff time and allocation of our
Mass in Motion grant for this support.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Wayne Feiden, FAICP
Director of Planning and Sustainability
