I think it could go for special permit to PB under either private educational use, halfway house, nursing etc....

Carolyn,
I got a call from Dan Joyce asking about Northampton Nursing Home. His company is considering the site for a alcohol and drug rehab facility. I am assuming that it's a forprofit facility.
I think the nursing home was built in 19691971. I can't find that they ever got any kind of use permit (in laserfiche or at the registry of deeds).
I'm thinking that they could go to the ZBA for a change in a nonconforming use; a nursing home requires a special permit from the planning board so that makes it nonconforming.
I think a drug/alcohol rehab qualifies as a halfway house (per definition), so they could also go to the planning board for a special permit (table use URB).
What do you think?
