The scope of this project is to construct a !
1.New deck in the rear of the building (phase 1) and remove the existing stairs (phase 2) and
replace them with an extension of the new rear deck. New deck material will be a wood look
product (Azek) with a white Trex rail system. This new work will give the existing rear
addition more of the historical architectural look of the original building. The deck design
meets all the required standards on pages 35-36 of the Elm Street Historic District Design
Standards (ESHDDS).!
2.Install a new 6’ door with grilles to match the original existing period windows and replace
the kitchen window, same size, with grille pattern to match existing grille patterns of original
windows. This is in accordance with the window section, pages 39-40 of the ESHDDS!
3.Lighting to code outside the 6' door will be in align/design with the front entry light. The new
lighting will meet the Lighting criteria on page 27 of the ESHDDS!
4.They also plan to remove the dilapidated steel shed in the backyard for more open space!
5.We feel all this work complies with the 5 design fundamentals outlined on page 19 of the
Elm Street Historic District Design Standards.!
