Here’s the math for uplift:
7’ x 10’ building for 70 square feet of roof
25 lbs. of up lift per square foot (a conservative number)
70 sq. ft. x 25 lb. per sq. ft. = 1750 lbs. of up lift
1750 divided by 4 (4x4 post) = 437.5 lbs. per post
437.5 x 2 (safety factor) = 875 lbs. of up lift per 4x4 post.
Use the following Simpson StrongTie products:
(4) ABW-44Z at post base
(3) SDWS 22 400 DB per 2x4 purlin to attach to 4X4 post
Hurricane tie downs at each rafter to 2x6 top plates to 2x4 top purlin
