The removal and replacement of materials, equipment or fixtures using new materials, elements, equipment or fixtures that serve the same purpose: Roof replacement, masonry wall repointing, window replacement. 2.0 Existing Building Conditions and Chapter 34, IEBC 2.1 Use Group (IBC310) B 2.2 Construction Type (IBC 602), Table 601: Type 2B, No Change 2.3 Classification of Work (503): Level 1 2.4 Historic (IEBC 508): Yes 2.5 Interior Finishes (IEBC 702.1); No Change to Interior Finishes 2.6 Fire Protection (IEBC 704.2.2): No Change to existing; Unsprinklered 2.7 Means of Egress (IEBC 704.1): No Change to existing means of egress 2.8 Accessibility (IEBC 705): The Building is accessible: 2.8.1 Entrance: Main Entrance (required entrance for all parties entering the building is on Gothic Street; Security check required) is Accessible; 2.8.2 Full functions of the building, including courtrooms and toilet rooms, are accessible via elevator; Tower, where masonry repairs and structural reinforcements are to be performed, is not a ‘habitable space.’ Boston Bay Architects, Inc. Old Hampshire County Courthouse DCP1828 HC1 Page 2 2.9 Reroofing: (IEBC 706): 2.9.1 General (IEBC 706.1): Replacements are like materials are slate and terra cotta tile.  Slate roof pitch is approximately 18:12; Slate shingle headlap=11-1/4”.  Terra Cotta tile roof is approximately 29:12; Clay tile headlap=7”  Double underlayment application called for 2.9.2 Although original material is being removed and replaced with new, like material, structural reinforcement of tower roof is included in the work; see structural drawings 2.9.3 Flashings are copper, and are new. 2.10 Structural (IEBC 707): 2.10.1 Replacement of Roofing (IEBC 707.2) There is no change in gravity load of roofing materials; despite this, structural reinforcement of tower roof is included in the scope of work of the project 2.10.2 Roof Diaphragms (IEBC 707.3.2): Tower roof diaphragm and connections are being upgraded under the scope of the project. See structural drawings. 2.11 Energy Conservation (IEBC 708): Roofs undergoing replacement are over separate, uninhabited spaces.
