GENERAL NOTES:2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SECURE THE REQUIRED CONSTRUCTION PERMIT(S) NECESSARY FOR THE PROPER EXECUTION OF THE WORK.

2. THE CONTRACTOR IS TO NOTIFY THE OWNER OF ANY AND ALL DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN EXIST-ING CONDITIONS AND THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS BEFORE PRECEDING WITH THAT PORTION OF THE WORK. FAILURE TO NOTIFY THE OWNER WILL NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR OF RESPONSI-BILITY TO PERFORM THE WORK AS INTENDED BY THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. THE CONTRACTOR IS TO CORRECT ANY AND ALL WORK ARISING FORM SUCH FAILURE TO COORDINATE DISCREPAN-CIES TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER (TYP).
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM ALL CUTTING AND PATCHING REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE WORK OR TO MAKE ITS PARTS FIT TOGETHER PROPERLY WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE QUALITY OF THE WORK.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ADEQUATELY BRACING AND PROTECTING ALL WORK DURING CONSTRUCTION AGAINST DAMAGE, BREAKAGE, COLLAPSE, DISTORTIONS, AND OFF ALIGNMENTS ACCORDING TO CODES AND STANDARDS OF GOOD PRACTICE.
6. THE TERM “FINISH FLOOR” SHALL MEAN THE NORMAL FINISHED SURFACE OF THE FLOOR LEVEL. ALL ELEVATIONS GIVEN FOR EXISTING BUILDING ARE TO FINISH FLOOR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL ELEVATIONS FOR EXISTING STRUCTURES PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PATCH AND REPAIR ALL FLOORS, WALLS, CEILINGS. ETC. DAMAGED OR EXPOSED DUE TO WORK OR REMOVALS AND FINISH TO MATCH ADJOINING SURFACES.
4. THE CONTRACTOR IS TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE ALL EXISTING ITEMS TO REMAIN AND IS TO REPAIR OR REPLACE ANY ITEM, INCLUDING FINISHES AND EQUIPMENT, DAMAGED DURING THE COURSE OF WORK TO THE SATISFACTION AND APPROVAL OF THE OWNER.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EXAMINE ALL DRAWINGS AND COORDINATE WORK OF ALL TRADES AND VERIFY LOCATION OF FIXTURES, EQUIPMENT, ETC.
8. ALL DEMOLITION AND REMOVALS ARE TO BE COORDINATED WITH EACH TRADE TO INSURE THE CONTINUITY OF ALL SERVICES TO THE EXISTING FACILITY.
9. DO NOT SCALE DRAWINGS. DIMENSIONS ON PLANS ARE INDICATED FROM SURFACE TO SUR-FACE BETWEEN WALLS, PARTITIONS AND OTHER ITEMS EXCLUSIVE OF FINISHES UNLESS OTHER-WISE NOTED. APPROXIMATE SIZE OF MASONRY UNITS AND WOOD MEMBERS ON PLANS, BUILDING ELEVATIONS AND SECTIONS ARE SHOWN AS NOMINAL SIZE.
10. COORDINATE WITH MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, AND HEATING DRAWINGS FOR THE EXTENT AND LOCATION OF ALL OPENINGS, SLEEVES, CHASES, WALL AND FLOOR PENETRATIONS.
13. ALL FIRE RATED PARTITIONS SHALL EXTEND TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE STRUCTURAL FLOOR AND SHALL BE FIRESTOPPED THERE AS WELL AS AT CONNECTION WITH RATED DROPPED SHAFT WALL CEILING. ALL PENETRATIONS SHALL BE SEALED AND PROTECTED IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF THE FIRE RATED PARTITIONS . FIRESTOPPING SHALL BE INSTALLED FROM SURFACE TO SURFACE BETWEEN WALLS, PARTITIONS AND OTHER ITEMS EXCLUSIVE OF FINISHES.
15. WOOD SHALL BE FIRE RETARDANT AND TREATED AS REQUIRED TO COMPLY MASSACHUSETTS STATE CODE.
