Hutter and the Design team confirmed that the house would be sprinkled and drawings would be provided with shop drawings and or as built drawings. The Chief and Louis were okay with this. The Chief requested more information on the alarm system and how the existing building, new building and the cottage would be connected. They want one system and all of them connected with remote annuciators at each entrance or as required. Sid was going to review this with the design team and provide a drawing or additional information on the connection of the alarm system for review. Alarm System Propone Tank Location The Chief requested that we get the 2 fuel sources closer together to aid in the accessibility of shutting off both fuel sources in an emergency situation. A proposed location to the west of the site to the left of the court yard appeared to be the best location. Jesse was going to review this location to confirm that it would be an acceptable location. This location would require a longer pipe run to the building and it would need to be routed through the first floor ceiling joist to get to the mechanical room. The design team was also going to look at the revised location as the pipe size may need to be increased with the long run. 1-4 Charles 1-5 Design Team 1-6 Record Pipe Sizing Reviewed the possible VE item to substitute the cast iron and copper water piping with PVC and CPVC. The code allow the PVC and CPVC in the dwelling units but cast iron and copper water piping will need to be used for the public bathrooms, laundry rooms, janitor rooms, basement and other common areas. The country kitchen as it is a residents kitchen area could be the PVC and CPVC. The PVC could branch off the copper and cast to service the dwelling units. Plumbing Piping 2 Fuel Sources in the Building The inspector reviewed with the design team that the pipe sizing appeared to be small if the intent was to switch to natural gas once the moratorium was lifted. The design team was going to double check this to make sure that the piping was sufficient. Also the estimated water column on the new system is 7", the inspector noticed that the plans and equipment list 11" water column. This will also be looked at by the design team to verify that adequate pipe sizing is installed. The Chief and building inspectors were fine with the 2 fuels servicing the building. They did require that all the new and existing building gas piping be labeled. Labeling will also be required at the fuel sources instructing that there are two fuel sources and shut off locations. The chief wanted to think about the wording and would get provide this information later. They also required a letter from Columbia Gas and Osterman stating that they are aware of the two fuel sources and okay with it. Charles was going to reach out to both parties and request the letter.
