Dear Commission Members:
On behalf of our client, Thomas E. Borawski we are submitting a copy of a letter from Michael
F. Gragnolati regarding flow testing for the above referenced project. The testing was requested by
the Department of Environmental Protection as stated in a letter dated January 25, 2005, from this
office requesting a continuation of the Notice of Intent hearing. Also enclosed with this letter are nine
(9) copies of a site plan entitled, Site Plan of Land in Northampton MA, Prepared for Thomas E.
Borawski, showing the relocation of the proposed sewage disposal system outside the 100' buffer

RE: Property of Robert A. & Ann M. Borawski
East of Kennedy Road
Northampton, Massachusetts
Dear Mr. Reed;
On Friday May 27, 2005 a dye test was performed on the drainage ditch on the above referenced
drainage ditch to see if there is flow into a perennial stream at the edge of the property. In the
previous week before the test rainfall was measured at two (2) inches in a rain gauge on the Borawski
farm. The dye was put into the ditch approximately 250' away from wetland flag W10. After
approximately 15 minutes only minor movement of the dye was noted.
Upgradient of the dye test the ditch pools water to the extent that algae and tadpoles are very common.
These species are indicative of stagnant water. Downgradient of the dye test the ditch was dry in
many areas with no indication of flow. In addition to the following conditions there was no evidence
of flow between the crossing of the farm road and the perennial stream.
In summary based on observations over the last few months and the dye test, I am of the opinion that
the drainage ditch no longer functions as a watercourse and thus does not flow into the potential
reservoir downgradient of the property.
If you should have any questions, please call this office at your convenience.
Sincerely
