SECTION 01 60 00
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
1.01 GENERAL CONDITIONS
A. The " Standard Form of Agreement," AIA Document A101, 1997 Edition, Electronic Format, as
published by the American Institute of Architects, together with all Amendments and Supplements as
hereinbefore listed, shall apply and are hereby made a part of this section of the Specifications.
B. The Sections of these Specifications entitled "Special Conditions," "Minimum Wage Determination," and
Division 1 "General Requirements" shall apply and are hereby made a part of this section of the
Specifications.
1.02 PRODUCTS
A. Comply with industry standards except when more restrictive tolerances or specified requirements
indicate more rigid standards or more precise workmanship.
B. Perform work by persons qualified to produce workmanship of specified quality.
C. Secure products in place with positive anchorage devices designed and sized to withstand stresses,
vibration, and racking.
1.03 MANUFACTURING INSTRUCTIONS
A. When work is specified to comply with the manufacturer’s instructions, submit copies as specified in
Section 01 33 00 Submittals, and distribute copies to persons involved, and maintain one set in field
office.
B. Perform work in accordance with details of instructions and specified requirements.
1.04 TRANSPORTATION AND HANDLING
A. Refer to Contract and General Conditions and Specifications sections for requirements pertaining to
transportation and handling of materials and equipment.
B. Transport products by method to avoid product damage; deliver in undamaged condition in
manufacturer’s unopened containers or packaging, dry.
C. Provide equipment and personnel to handle products by methods to prevent soiling or damage.
D. Promptly inspect shipments to assure that products comply with requirements, that quantities are
correct, and products are undamaged.
1.05 STORAGE AND PROTECTION
A. Refer to Contract and General Conditions and Specification section for requirement pertaining to
transportation and storage and protection of materials and equipment.
B. Store products in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, with seals and labels intact and legible.
Store sensitive products in weather tight enclosures; maintain within temperature and humidity ranges
required by manufacturers instructions.
C. For exterior storage of fabricated products, place on sloped supports above ground. Cover products

subject to deterioration with impervious sheet covering; provide ventilation to avoid condensation.
D. Store loose granular materials on solid surfaces in a well-drained area; prevent mixing with foreign
matter.
E. Arrange storage to provide access for inspection. Periodically inspect to assure that products are
undamaged, and are maintained under required conditions.
F. No extended storage of materials will be permitted on site. Delivery of materials shall be scheduled in a
manner that will limit “on site time” to 45 days or less before installation.
