GNCB visited the site on Friday, February 9, 2018
from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm to review the progress
of construction. A Key Plan of the building is provided to the left to assist the Reader. The
following was reviewed and discussed:
1. The heavy timber girders on the west side of north stair tower supporting
1st floor joist do not need reinforcing as previously added steel girders
have supported the joists loading here. See Photos P01 and P02.

2. The moved LVL beam at the northeast corner of the elevator at the
second floor needs to be pocketed into the stair wall on its east bearing
end. Minimum bearing = 4”. See Photo P03.
P03
3. The LVL girder at the eastern end of steel column on grid E.1 will need to be offset to the north side to properly pick up end of existing floor joist.
Dublin Steel can rotate the existing bolted angle 90° on the west column
face on grid EA.0 to support this LVL. Notch or shim LVL to these bearing
angle as needed based upon its final necessary elevation. See Photo P04.

5. The new LVL girders shown on S1.4 Ceiling Framing Plan north of grid E1
are missing one girder and not equally spaced as shown. A new AHU is to
be added in this area as well. Once GNCB has this unit’s weight and location, they will check this present LVL girder layout to see if members
will need to be added. See Photo P07.

7. The double rafter and tie was yet to be installed at the north side of the
southeast tower per note on S1.5. See Photo P10.

8. The long valley beams at the roof above the monumental stair will need a
midspan beam support. The west end of this new beam can be supported
on a new post at the west stair wall. As much of this wall is to be removed per the architectural drawings, TDA will review this to see if a post can be
accommodated along that new wall opening. See Photo P11.
