To Whom It May Concern:;
I am the owner of the building at 78 Masonic Street, which houses Mosaic Cafe. I am writing about the tree that straddles my property and the property behind my building, at 72 Masonic
Street. This tree forms part of the fence between the restaurant’s back patio and the property behind, and it is a major part of the ambience of the back patio. I am concerned about
potential plans to remove this tree, proposed by the new owners of 72 Masonic.
The outdoor seating on the back patio of Mosaic Cafe is a major draw for many of my customers. It is currently a spot protected by the tree which forms part of the fence and overhangs
the patio. The tree contributes to the ambience with shade, birds, privacy and beauty. It is irreplaceable.
If the town determines that the tree must be removed due to its location on the property at 72 Masonic, I ask that the owners replace the fence, and plant a new tree to take the place
of this large, healthy, established tree. My business at Mosaic Cafe will be very negatively affected by the tree’s removal, as will the value of the property itself.
Thank you for your consideration of my small business, which offers employment, tourism and sustenance to the town.
Sincerely,
Abid Assab, Owner
