Northampton Public HEARING Agenda
For Wednesday February 1, 2012
The CENTRAL BUSINESS ARCHITECTURE COMMITTEE will meet in Hearing Room
18, City Hall, 210 Main Street, Northampton:
6:00 P.M. Discussion of bridge art work on Rail Trail bridge.
6:00 P.M. Public Hearing on building status and classification of building at 15 Bridge Street,
Map ID 32A-172.
In accordance with 156-4C : After a public hearing and only with four affirmative votes, the Central
Business Architecture Committee shall have the authority to adopt reasonable rules, regulations, and
forms and to revise the Design Guidelines Manual to aid in the administration of this chapter, and to
reclassify building types shown on the Central Business Architectural Ordinance, City of
Northampton, Map attached to this chapter.
See attached photo of the building at 15 Bridge. The project proponent will also be sending
along plans for the renovation. Staff believes this would either fall under Transitional residential
or anomaly.
Under 156-5C(14): Effective March 1, 2005, alteration or renovation, but not expansion or demolition,
of any anomaly or transitional residential building, based on its classification on January 1, 2005, or when
a request for a permit is made.
Discussion of hearing for classification of additional buildings.
1. The original classification of buildings has not been updated since the district has expanded.
The city just added lots in the fall and there are 2 more proposed additions to the district on the
table this spring. The attached spreadsheet is included as a preview for a public hearing that
should be held soon to address the lots that have not been classified and also to correct
inaccurately classified structures.
