Evaluate the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. This is a one-and-one-half story raised Cape with side gabled roof. This home has been dramatically altered with the addition of an enclosed room above the front porch, gabled dormers, and vinyl siding. The front portico has turned posts that are characteristic of the Queen Anne style but has a wide trabeated front door that is characteristic of the Greek Revival style. The trabeated surround at the front entry encloses four light sidelights. On the ridge of the roof are two brick chimneys HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building. Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. From Form B of 1980: “The house has been sided and remodeled but appears to date from the early 19th century. The 1854 map shows the house, and its owner is Allanson Clark. Two branches of the Clark family settled on the north side of South Street in 1704 and 1705, one almost directly across the street. This house as probably originally built for a member of the Clark family.” BIBLIOGRAPHY and/or REFERENCES Beers, F. W. County Atlas of Hampshire Massachusetts, New York, 1873. Hales, John G.
