ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION:
Describe architectural features. Evaluate the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community.
This is a fine example of a Craftsman bungalow. It is one-and-a-half stories in height under a side-gable roof with a centered
dormer. The roof extends on the west to create a porch whose roof rests on fieldstone piers. Following the Craftsman purpose
of creating the look of hand-crafted architecture from local materials, this house has fieldstone foundations and walls of pressed
concrete that was often made with a hand-operated press. In the gable ends the house is now vinyl-sided, but would originally
have had wood shingles or clapboards. It is three bays wide and four bays deep and there is a fine fieldstone foundation on the
south exterior wall.
HISTORICAL NARRATIVE
Discuss the history of the building. Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the
owners/occupants played within the community.
