Staff Comments and Response
Hi Jonah-
Just a few comments on this one, please see below. Attached please find the legal notice
for posting in the yellow sign (although it's in Easthampton, the visitors center would
make the most sense)
Staff have reviewed the NOI filing for the above-referenced project. As noted in the
application, the project is intended to improve the functionality of the resource areas by
reducing potential damage from hikers. The Commission will need some additional
information to evaluate the project.
Bank to intermittent streams are mentioned in the narrative, but not quantified in the
Form 3. Please quantify the amount of bank alteration proposed, both from placement
of new bridges and restoration of previously disturbed areas.
Bank will be spanned by bridges but not altered. Bridges will be set in the ground
beyond the bank on each side leaving the bank and intermittent streams unaltered.
Bank in areas of restoration will be left unaltered as well.
Please confirm that the only work taking place within bordering vegetated wetland is
restoration of disturbed areas, and that no additional alteration is proposed.
Yes, the small amount of new trail will not be within bordering vegetated wetlands.
The only work that will occur in bordering vegetated wetland is closing an old trail to
restore the disturbed area.
