In each instance,we have been told"something is being done' but have seen no action whatsoever. The issue is a large in-ground swimming pool,long abandoned,with a dangerous,partially collapsed wood-framed cover and a ripped lining.The pool contains standing water where mosquitoes and other insects breed. It always has water in it;the volume swells after rain. The water-filled pit is a safety risk to people and small animals. Before reaching out to the Health Department,we took the initiative to contact the owner/landlord, Michelle Hong,who lives in Longmeadow. In a call on May 3,she reported that she was planning to fill in the pool or repair the wooden cover--but nothing has happened. The situation is a longstanding,ongoing hazard. Our frustration in getting movement has prompted us to include our City Councilor in this communication.We look forward to relief and resolution.
