Dear Ms. LorraineI
As requested,
20 Masonic Street,
was being supplied
required under the
410,201.
an inspection was made of Ellen Pions apartment at
Northampton, Mass., on November 21, 1980, No heat
to the apartment at the time of investigation as is
State Sanitary Code, Chapter II, Regulation #
The following circumstances concerning this violation were found,
(1) 18-24 Masonic Street is owned by Samuel and Marjorie Goldman, Rt.
#1, P. 0. Box 1454P, Las Cruces, New Mexico, 88001.
(2) A conversation with Ellen Wolff, Manager of the premises,
indicated that Bob Schneider Plumbing, R.F.D.#1, Upland Road, Northampton,
has been hired to repair the heating facilities. Upon investigation by
the plumber, it was discovered that the existing stack was of insufficient
size to handle the present load. A larger, 10 inch replacement stack was
required before the furnace could be turned back on. Firing the furnace
without the stack replacement would create a serious fir hazard. Therefore,
the plumber refuses to do it until the new stack has been installed and
approved by the Building Inspectors Office.
(3) The required replacement stack has been ordered by the plumber
through a company in Minnesota. It is now on back-order. A telephone
conversation with the plumbers office has confined these facts.
(4) As of December 12, 1980, no heat is yet being provided at 18-24
Masonic Street, since the replacement stack has not been delivered.
Very truly yours,
David E, &ochan
