Dear Mr. McErilain:
This letter is in response to your letter stating that violations
exist at our residence of 234 Spring Street, Florence, MA 01060 .
My wife and I returned home Monday, Oct. 15th, from a weekend away
at a college friends wedding. On entering the house, a sister-in-law
who lives next door came over to tell us there was a water problem over
the weekend. This problem damaged food in our kitchen cabinets plus
puddles on the floor. As both of us had to get to work within the
half-hour, we decided to wait and talk to our upstair tenants later
to determine what had happened. Upon talking with Mr. Hickson, he
thought the problem was with the bathtub drain. I asked that they
not use the tub until a plumber could check it. He agreed.
On Tuesday morning my wife called a plumber who was not sure if he
could free up someone that day. That night, sitting on the couch,
all of a sudden water started to pour from the kitchen ceiling. I
quickly called the tenants. Mr. Hickson said that he had flushed
the toilet. At that point I asked him not to use any facilities until
I could have everything checked and repaired. He questioned it, at
which point I offered the facilities in my apartment.
On Wednesday, Oct. 17th, in the morning, my wife again called the
plumber to make sure they would come that day. If they could not,
she was going to contact some other plumber who could. However,
they assured her that theywould be there on the 17th. This is the
same day that your letter is dated saying that you inspected the
premises. The bathroom facilities were repaired and restored that
same day.
The plumbing leak has been repaired at this time. Also, at this time
I would request that you recind your order, in writing, giving all
rights back to us.
Very trul
\% l
yours,
