Jnder authority of Chapter III, Section 127 of the Massachusetts General

(1) Gas stove defective...Pilot flame
goes out regularly when back left
burner is turned on. ...Constitutes a
safelty hazard.
(2) Bathroom-Toilet bowl basin badly
cracked.
(1) Repair or, otherwise, replace
stove with an approved unit.
(2) Replace bathroom toilet basin.
(1) Prime back entry door to the
kitchen with defective lock. Locking
plate is loose and door frame is badly
split, preventing the plate from being
properly secured.
(2) Main front entry door to the
building lacks an approved, keyed
locking mechanism.
(3) Right prime living room window
will not properly lock.
(1) Repair lock and door frame in an
approved manner which will provide a
secure locking mechanism.
(2) The main entry door of a dwelling
containing more than three dwelling
units must be self-closing and self-
locking. All tenants must be provided
with keys to the door.
(3) Repair prime living room window
so that it will lock properly.
No smoke detector in Apartment#2,
as required.
Provide an approved smoke detector
within the interior of this apartment in
vicinity of bedroom(s).
(1) Kitchen - Right interior of the
lower cabinet is not properly weather-
proofed so as to exclude cold air....
Insulation exposed.
(2) Section of the pantry ceiling with
peeling/cracking surfaces.
(3) Small holes in living room walls
(4) Large open hole in foundation
which leads down into the cellar.
(at rear of dwelling)
(1) Finish interior of cabinet so as to
cover insulation and exclude cold air.
(2) Repair damaged section of pantry
ceiling.
(3) Patch small holes in walls.
(4) Seal off opening in an approved
manner which will prevent venmin
entry and cold air/moisture.

As per our telephone conversation of May 10, I am progressing
fast as possible to correct the violations you noted in your
ort dated May 3, 1994. A number of the violatons mentioned did
exist prior to the occupancy of this appartment by Patti and
k ❑bringer and your report is the first form of complaint that
ave heard from the Obringer' s regarding these problems.
The repairs will be made as follows:
1) Violation: Gas stove defective, problem with pilot light
Corrective Action: Arrangements have been made with
Hampton Gas Company to make repairs on May 16.
Violation: Bathroom toilet bowl cracked
Corective Action: Hebert Plumbing will replace the
toilet on May 16.
3) Violation: Back entry door with defective lock and
door frame is badly split.
Corrective Action: The lock was new and in good working
order when tennants took occupancy. The door frame was
not cracked. I am having a contractor provide me with
an estimate for repairs this week.
4) Violation: Main front door to building lacks a keyed
lock.
Corrective Action: I will replace the current door
mechanism with a keyed lock. However other residents
will not be able to receive guests and the mail will not
get delivered since the mail boxes are located inside
the building.
5) Violation: Living room window will not properly lock
Corrective Action: This problem did not exist before
the Obringer's took occupancy but will be repaired when
the back door is repaired
6) Violation: No smoke detector in appartment.
Corrective Action: There was a smoke detector when the
Obringer's assumed occupancy of the appartment but I
will install another in order to meet code.
7) Violation: Interior of kitchen cabinet with exposed
insulation.
Corrective Action: Will be repaired within next 2 to
to 3 weeks
8) Violation: Pantry ceiling with peeling paint.
Corrective Action: (same as #7 above)
9) Violation: Small holes in living room walls.
Corrective Action: (same as #7 above)
10) Violation: Large Open hole which leads to cellar
Corrective Action: I assume this brick lined hole
is the remnants of an old point well. It does not lead
to the cellar. There is no cellar on that side of the
building only a crawl space and the hole does not
connect to it. Since I have owned the building, there
have been no complaints of vermin. While this hole
does not constitute a danger, I will have a cover built
over it as soon as possible.
Items #3 through #10 will require an estimate by a contractor
are the worked can be done. I have made arrangements to have
?stimate completed some time during the week of May 16th. The
Jal worked will be done as soon as the contractor can schedule
