PETER J.McERLAIN,Health Agent (413)587-1214 F )((413)587-1264 CITY OF NORTHAMPTON MASSACHUSETTS 01060 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH 210 MAIN STREET NORTHAMPTON,MA 01060 NOTICE TO ABATE A NUISANCE COPY DATE: March 30, 2000 ADDRESS JoAnn Christiansen 135 Prospect Street Northampton, MA 01060 MAP: 24D PARCEL: 259 As owner of 135—137 Cresent Street, Northampton, MA 01060 you are hereby notified to take action to remedy the conditions named below within FOURTEEN DAYS of the service of this notice, according to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 111, Sections 122- 125: General nuisance created by the improper deposition of yard waste along and over the hill located at the rear of your property. Deposited waste includes, but is not limited to leaves, dead christmas trees, & branches. This ongoing deposition, which has been witnessed by the complainants, constitutes an illegal dumping ground. Some, if not most of this yard debris appears to have been deposited on to the property of others which abut your lot. Further complicating this matter is the steep hill which allows deposited leaves to blow even further on to the properties below. While composting (of leaves) is always an option, it must be properly located on your property, properly handled and turned, and effectively contained so as to not create any nuisance. Immediately make arrangements to remove and properly dispose of the accumulated landscaping waste noted above. In the future, cease dumping in this manner. If at the expiration of time allowed these conditions have not been remedied, or are not in the process of being remedied, such further action will be taken as the law requires and a fine of $1000.00 for each offense may be charged. By order of the Northampton Board of Health CERTIFIED MAIL#Z 239 803 020 this abatement or is signed and certified under the pains and penalties of perjury. - Cie David E.
