Work Description (use additional paper and/or provide plan(s) of work, if necessary): The project proposes installation of a bench along the Mill River trail off of Ward Avenue. Work will be located within riverfront area to the Mill River, approximately 40 feet from the top of bank. The area has been a popular walking and bicycling trail for many decades, and the bench will be installed at the rope swing beach. The area is sandy, and receives a great deal of foot traffic. No vegetation of any kind will be disturbed as a result of the bench’s installation. Footings for the bench will be dug with either with a mini excavator, or by hand, if access along the trail is challenging for machinery. The embedment is concrete to a depth of 30”, and will be nearly flush with ground level. The area is also within floodplain, but the project will displace much less than one cubic yard, and the Commission previously voted that projects altering less than one cubic yard do not constitute an alteration, and Conservation Commission staff has already reviewed the plans and confirmed that no additional floodplain permitting is needed. The applicant requests that the Commission find that the project is located within an area subject to protection, but will not remove dredge fill or alter that area. C.
